Incredibly it took until 1961 for an all girl group to reach #1 on the Billboard charts, and these gals from Passaic, New Jersey were the ones with their recording of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". Not long after that, they released "Mama Said", and it went all the way to #4 in the nation in May of '61. . With the likes of Carole King, Gerry Goffin, Burt Bacharach, and Hal David writing for you, how could you fail, and the Shirelles didn't.
